We are so happy to witness the fabulous support that our friends at QEST continue to provide to our sector through their scholarships and apprenticeships, and especially to see some of our most talented members benefit from this programme.
QEST announced their latest tranche of 22 Scholars earlier this month, and amongst these are no less than 6 Design-Nation members. We’ve given various kinds of support to some of these craftspeople on their journey towards QEST awards, and are delighted they’ve been chosen. The QEST Scholars from Design-Nation are:
Barnaby Ash of Ash & Plumb, contemporary wood turners. Barnaby is the new QEST Turners Company Scholar.
Angela Fung of paper-folders extraordinaire, Fung + Bedford, who is the new QEST Winch Design Scholar.
Momoka Gomi for her beautiful textile weaving which embraces sustainability.
New DN member Laura Quinn is the QEST Garfield Weston Scholar for amazing tactile glass work.
Andrea Spencer of Benefield Spencer for her delicate lampworked pieces of glass art.
Dr Hannah White for her highly geometric woven and constructed textiles which embrace new technologies.
Congratulations to all of these talented makers, each of whom has mapped out a new and exciting area of development which QEST and their partners will now support. We look forward to seeing the results.
