We are excited to announce 8 members of our East Anglia Cluster Hub will be exhibiting at Artspace in Woodbridge, Suffolk this June.
’Nurture’
Nurture (verb) – care for and protect (someone or something) while they are growing
‘Nurture’ encapsulates an exploration of each maker’s connections with either their local environment, personal well being or perceptions of identity.
Design Nation’s East Anglia Cluster Hub was formed in 2020, and connects makers working from their studios in Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk. Having met frequently over Zoom for the past six years, eight members have come together to exhibit their work. Artists work across disciplines including weave, embroidery, ceramics, kiln formed glass, mixed media and textile art. The link between each maker’s practice centres around being increasingly environmentally aware.
The theme of Nurture is interpreted in different ways – some makers have applied personal experience of the act of making and its benefits on their wellbeing, while others have chosen to explore the idea of nurture through repurposed and eco friendly materials.
