Neve Beill Ceramics

observing & collecting

Neve Beill is a London-based ceramicist working with foraged materials. Her practice centres on exploring specific locations, currently focusing on the River Thames foreshore. Through observing and collecting, she gathers both inspiration and raw materials. Producing decorative and functional pieces that reflects the relationship between place and materiality.

Using clay dug directly from the ground, Beill develops her own clay bodies and throws forms influenced by traditional pottery found in each location. She often adds hand-built details that echo natural forms, drawing attention to the character of the materials and its origins.

Experimentation is central to her process. By testing different combinations of locally sourced materials, she creates mineral and ash glazes that capture the textures and tones she encounters while exploring. Through this site-specific and material-led approach, Beill contributes to contemporary craft by promoting a deeper connection between ceramics and landscapes.

Neve joined Design-Nation in 2026.
