Philip Hughes is a designer and ceramicist with over 30 years’ experience. He has designed award-winning museum exhibitions for institutions including the British Library and the Fitzwilliam Museum, alongside maintaining a ceramics practice.
In his ceramic practice, working with hand-building and slip-casting, Philip creates sculptural and functional pieces. He uses a range of materials and glazes, inspired by William Morris’s principle of combining beauty and utility. He also explores mould-making through 3D printing and parametric modelling.
Philip’s home has featured in Open House London, exhibiting his work and that of other ceramicists.
Philip joined Design-Nation in 2026.
