Amy Frankie Smith’s new ‘Lightscapes’ are expressive linear designs precisely carved into porcelain making delicate and striking lighting installations.
Amy creates flowing and dynamic compositions in the clay that have tension yet balance across the surface of the piece.
In natural light the beauty of porcelain shines with reflections in the glaze. The installations come to life when illuminated after dark and the porcelain glows with warmth.
Alongside this new work Amy creates delicate, organic lighting that evokes the textures and natural forms of the beach; wind weathered and sun bleached groynes, sea polished stones and the ever-changing light are daily inspirations.
Amy’s raw organic influences are combined with mindful simplicity of form in hand crafted porcelain, to create lighting that is fresh and timeless.
When working to commission, Amy creates installations with light and porcelain that are unique and specific to the spaces they are made for.
