Lowri Davies creates distinctive bone china tableware designs – tea cups, jugs, vessels and vases that are characterised by slanted openings, characterful drawing and a charming pastel palette.
All of Lowri’s work consists of coloured internal moments, decorated with a combination of hand screen-printed and digitally printed decals, and further finished with gold and silver lustres. She adorns her pieces with vibrant illustrations of birds, ceramic collections (referencing works from 19th century Nantgarw and Swansea potteries) along with established views of landscape, floral and fauna.
Lowri’s practice references typical china displays, household accumulations of souvenirs and bric-a-brac, creating rich allusions to a sense of place through her re-stimulation of iconography and symbolism that has a deep relationship to her own roots.
