Ranjit Dhaliwal is a London-based ceramic artist. His practice combines forms from the tradition of modern European ceramics with a vibrant colour palette that is inspired by his Indian heritage.
Ranjit’s work is intended to be playful, unrestrained, and to reflect the pleasure that he takes in the process of making. He takes great pride in being a practitioner of a historically important and culturally significant craft.
Ranjit’s current collection, Motion, is a group of sculptural vessels made only with his hands, using a novel method that genuinely pushes the material to its limits. Strips of clay have been shaped using dramatic gestural movements, then assembled into unique forms with a rich surface texture in which the spontaneous physicality of the moment of making is preserved. The finished pieces are left unglazed to emphasise the interplay of light and shadow, reflecting the way that the elements shape our natural world.
Ranjit joined Design-Nation as a Professional member in 2025.
