Blossom Glassworks

inspiration from nature's infinite variety

Looking for a creative outlet, Sharon Korek set up Blossom Glassworks, her glass studio in 2014, after retiring from being a senior lecturer in law. She discovered glass to be a fabulous and exciting medium with which to be creative. It allows for versatility, originality and endless experimentation in the creation of contemporary design.

Over the years Sharon has explored various techniques for creating in glass and more recently she has been working in lost wax core casting, creating vessels that are finished with hallmarked silver collars. Combining casting and silversmithing has been an enjoyable challenge. Sharon takes inspiration for her designs from nature in all its glorious forms and colours. Opening the kiln after a firing is always a moment of anticipation, to see how the intense heat and gravity have transformed the glass.

Sharon is a great believer in life-long learning, taking her first degree at the age of 20 in Botany and Zoology. She has always found endless inspiration in the infinite variety found in nature, and now enjoys channelling that inspiration into her own work, and establishing a style and form that is unique and recognisable.

Sharon joined Design-Nation in 2026.
