I left my first career to pursue my dream and passion of creating beautiful original textile designs. I feel compelled to create and be innovative and by pursuing this desire I believe I can help bring beauty and joy into the lives of others. This can be in the form of a beautiful silk scarf, handmade bag, cushion, lampshade, silk lantern or wall art canvas.
Since graduating from Loughborough University in 2009 with a degree in Textile Design I have worked as a freelance designer specialising in printed textiles.
I feel that I am now an accomplished printed textile designer as my designs have sold around the world to brands such as Calvin Klein, DKNY, Coast, The White Company, Victoria’s Secret and Lipsy amongst many others.
My inspiration comes from many sources. First and foremost it is nature, especially flowers and by creating original artwork and designs I hope to help people see the beauty and joy that nature can bring to their lives. Thus, I would like for everyone to appreciate the short life of a flower and transcend this quality to last longer in the form of an artwork or design. To quote Hippocrates ‘Life is short, art is long’.
Secondly from my love of Japanese Art from the 16th and 17th Century especially Japanese wood block prints. These are always a constant source of inspiration for colour combinations and composition. The aesthetic, tranquility and beauty stimulate my work.
All my digital printing is done in the East Midlands and my entire collection is hand made from my Nottingham based Studio.
