The sixth maker in our series on handmade craft that makes perfect giftware and individualised stock for retailers is Janie Knitted Textiles. Jane Withers and Michael Hanmer work from their rural studio at Welbeck in Nottinghamshire, creating charming knitware with a difference. Our long term partners at the British Craft Trade FairĀ are great champions of makers like these, who produce smart, contemporary and visually pleasing British-based craft with a difference.
Jane and Michael use hand-making and industrial machines to create their elegant contemporary giftware, personal and interior accessories, and lighting, and are inspired by their environment. They use British and merino wool, linen and cotton yarns, all sourced from UK suppliers. With an ethos of sustainability, they collaborate with galleries, designers, retail and hospitality outlets, and individuals for commissions, alongside small batch production of stock items. Their trade collections are beautifully made, unique and commercial, with a thoroughly 21st century aesthetic and colour schemes.
Jane and Michael’s contact details are here. The next maker in this trade series is Jenny Chan.
