In the first of our new series on handmade craft ideal for giftware, we profile jeweller and mosaic artist Angela Ibbs Designs. Like us, Angela was looking forward to travelling to Harrogate to participate in the latest British Craft Trade Fair in April. Our longstanding partners at BCTF are passionate about high quality British-based craft and their annual showcase is a treasure trove of the most beautiful, fresh and well crafted work.
Angela works out of a studio in her Lincolnshire garden and creates hand cut mosaic jewellery and interior pieces, using a dazzling array of carefully selected iridescent glass, vintage ceramics and Italian millefiori. Each piece is individual, reflecting her enjoyment of a wide range of materials, hues, textures and assembly methods. Angela has developed her own mosaic style as an exploration of choices, creating memorable, effective and durable works that combine materials in a loving way, full of charm.
Angela says, “My pieces are inspired by nature, folk art and style movements, and I create decorative and attractive pieces to wear and for the home. With a kaleidoscope of choice offered by British craftspeople to independent shops and high street retailers, by stocking handmade products these outlets will be able to awaken and enrapture consumers with a whole new world of quality and individuality. ”
