Tangent Accessories is a contemporary knitted accessories brand for men and women, designed and made by Zoe Miller from her London studio.
Each piece is made by Zoe using a hand operated industrial knitting machine from the mid 20th century. The very fine gauge enables detailed and delicately knitted structures to be manipulated by hand. Zoe’s subtle textures and soft geometric patterns are inspired by everyday urban details, as well as the contrast between repetitive patterns and uncontrollable happenstance of technique and yarn. She uses the finest luxury merino lambs’ wool for wonderfully soft and wearable items, and each piece is designed and made with longevity in mind. Tangent Accessories’ products are limited editions, with all yarns are sourced from UK spinners who have a strong sustainability ethos, both for dyes, production and animal welfare.
Zoe’s skill on the machine comes from more than 20 years experience and a deep interest in the possibilities of structures and material combinations. This stems from her work as an independent designer earlier in her career, where she collaborated with clients and companies working on bespoke projects. Zoe created highly sculptural knitted fabric for specialist applications; namely, technology, trend forecasting, costume, interior and architectural projects.
