Suzy Ager Textile Design

beauty & character of British wildlife

Suzy Ager is a textile artist who layers fabric and stitch to capture the beauty and character of British wildlife.  Beginning with hand-drawn imagery, Suzy uses both hand and free-machine embroidery to translate these foundations into tactile illustrations, typically employing delicate fabrics to represent the fragile state of her subjects.

Motivated by the lack of value society places on our natural environment, Suzy seeks to highlight its beauty and worth whilst exploring the threats it faces.  She is also interested in reminding people of the vital role nature’s beauty plays in individual well-being.  The reigniting of connections and memories to people and places through engaging and characterful imagery is an important element of Suzy’s work.

Suzy strives to use fabric and thread in a painterly way, giving life to her subjects and imbuing them with character and movement that captivates viewers.  She continues to explore ways of enhancing these elements through colour application, material choices and sculptural techniques.

Suzy joined Design-nation as a Graduate in 2024 and moved up to full Professional membership in March 2025.
