This month the much-feted and long-running* graduate showcase New Designers returns to the Business Design Centre London – and so do we, with a great ticket offer.
Design-Nation is delighted to once again be sponsoring the One Year In awards, as our team of expert eyes meet the rising stars and recent start-ups in the design world.
One Year In is a specially curated gallery that runs over both weeks 1 and 2 of the show, dedicated to those designers in the early stages of their businesses. Design-Nation has supported many makers who have shown at One Year In over the years, and our judging team are looking forward to checking out the latest talents in 2022.
Our judges include internationally renowned furniture and product designer Nina Moeller; versatile globetrotting homeware designer and former boutique retailer Snowden Flood, architecturally-inspired textile artist and print expert Michelle House, and Kew Gardens‘ head of commercial activities (and Design-Nation brand ambassador) Adam Thow. They will be joined by our director Clare Edwards and membership manager Hayley Banks.
Each week we will award one talented designer a year’s full membership of the Design-Nation network, plus exhibition of work in a showcase – as well as access to our exclusive programme of professional development, tailored advice sessions, regional networks, marketing support and trade and retail exhibitions. We’re also supporting a Highly Commended award each week.
In previous years through One Year In we have discovered some fantastic talents, makers we are proud to work with now, like weaver Majeda Clarke, silversmith Alex O’Connor, ceramicist Taz Pollard and blacksmith Leszek Sikon. Who will our judges meet this year?
We’ll be announcing the winners in early July, but don’t wait til then: you can visit New Designers yourself and discover the latest talented graduates. Across two-weeks (29 June – 2 July & 6 – 9 July 2022) the UK’s top design talents of the future will be coming together to celebrate their graduation projects. Whether you are looking to see the latest design thinking in textiles & fashion, ceramics & jewellery, product & furniture, or animation & graphic design, New Designers will showcase it all.
