Design-Nation Launches New Honorary Membership Programme

Design-Nation is delighted to announce the launch of its new Honorary Membership, recognising an exceptional group of designers, makers, educators and creative leaders whose work and advocacy continue to shape Design-Nation and the contemporary craft and design sector.

The inaugural Honorary Members are:

  • Amy Cushing
  • Margo Selby
  • Stuart Akroyd
  • Nina Moeller
  • Peter Layton
  • Scabetti
  • Ella Doran
  • Wallace Sewell
  • Jo Cope
  • Sue Pryke
  • Jan Garside

Honorary Membership has been created to celebrate individuals whose experience, expertise and influence strengthen the Design-Nation network and wider creative community. The programme acknowledges not only outstanding creative achievement, but also long-standing commitment to Design-Nation and contributions to sector development.

As voluntary ambassadors and advocates for Design-Nation, Honorary Members will help support our mission to champion contemporary makers and designers across the UK. Their involvement may include contributing to talks and exhibitions, participating in selection panels, supporting campaigns and engaging in wider conversations around the future of craft and design.

Collectively, our inaugural honorary members represent an extraordinary breadth of practice spanning glass, ceramics, textiles, interiors, fashion, socially engaged design and public art. Their careers encompass internationally recognised exhibitions, pioneering studio practices, education leadership, public engagement and industry collaboration.

Clare Edwards and Hayley Banks, of Design-Nation, said:

“Design-Nation has always been built on the strength of its community, and we are incredibly proud to recognise this remarkable group of practitioners whose support, creativity and advocacy have contributed so much to Design-Nation over many years. Honorary Membership allows us to formally celebrate these relationships while strengthening connections between established practitioners and the next generation of makers and designers.”

Head to our Honorary Members Page to find out more and keep an eye an our socials as we profile and celebrate each honorary member over the coming weeks.
