Pegg Furniture is the creation of Michael Buick, an Oxford-based designer who is tackling the conundums of everyday living, while respecting the planet and delighting in simplicity.
A fresh take on traditional joinery, Michael’s Pegg range of all-wood furniture is held together with … pegs. This makes it fun to build, easy to move and compact to store. It’s designed for the contemporary world of frequent moves and and multiple-use spaces. The Pegg desk, for example, has legs that quickly un-peg and store neatly inside the desk-top: ideal for the digital nomad or those who occasionally need to reclaim the home office for a guest bedroom.
Michael says, ‘I’m a firm believer in designing-through-making, and the creative fusion that happens between the maker, their tools and the material. Pegg was born from a delight at the crisp holes a pillar drill can cut, pleasure in geometric forms made from timber, and the excitement of finding that beautifully simple solution.’
Michael trained at Rycotewood Furniture Oxford, graduating with a First in 2019, and has applied his experience from his previous career in climate change communications to building the Pegg brand. He says, ‘I hope my products will tempt lots more people to invest in quality, sustainable furniture that is theirs for life.’
