Liz Willis is a Hertfordshire-based jeweller, using silver & hand stitched silk threads to add layers of colour & texture to her work.
As the holder of a Creative Mudlark Permit from the Port of London Authority, Liz uses found objects that she collects from mudlarking along the River Thames. These are combined with beachcombing & metal detecting finds, everyday objects, such as pins & nails, that were handmade generations ago & have had a previous life & use. Every object is worked on by Liz’s hands to give a new chapter & make little pieces of wearable history.
After a previous career as a nurse & a support worker, Liz returned to university as a mature student, graduating with a BA in Applied Arts from the University of Hertfordshire in 2008. AHe has lucky enough to spend some time on an art residency in Husavik, Iceland in 2015, which inspired & informed the development of her work with found objects. In March 2025, Liz was awarded a Silver for Conceptual Jewellery at the Goldsmiths’ Design & Craft Awards.
Liz joined Design-Nation as a Professional member in 2026.
