Kira Phoenix K’inan’s work brings together fine art, craft and design through glass sculptures, works on paper, lighting and adornments, which are ethically produced in her London based studio. Kira draws from her rich and diverse cultural background to create each series or collection.
Kira grew up in a vibrant community of artists on Lamma Island, Hong Kong and would spend weekends exploring the environment, where she developed a close connection to nature. This upbringing led to an interest in abstract forms, colour and geometric shapes. Kira brought these creative interests into her studies to the Sculpture Department at Central St Martins and The Royal College of Art’s Ceramic and Glass Department. Kira continued developing new processes, bodies of work and collections while she was an Artist in Residence at Konstfack Art University, Sweden and Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland.
Since 2020, Kira has focused on glass colour mixing to create new tones and shades as light reflects and refracts through each piece of work. During this time she has launched the Superposition series, PLAY series, Palmately Netted Vein series, Emergent series and the FLUX series. Kira’s collections have grown organically and are known for their rich palette, abstract forms and geometric shapes.
Kira’s work can be found in private or commercial collections globally including the UK, Scandinavia, and USA. She continues to exhibit globally with highlights being Bullseye Glass competition Emerge Bullseye 2018, shortlisted for the Ashurst Emerging Artists Prize in 2019, a finalist for The Visual Arts Open 2020, exhibiting at London Craft Week 2022 (2023, 2024, 2025 & 2026), Decorex International 2022, Future Icons 2023 (2025 & 2026), MADE London 2023 (2024), solo show Living Room in 2024, exhibiting at a Science Museum Lates 2024, COLLECT 2025, and selected for New Glass Review 46!
