Joanna is a printed textile artist and designer, producing one-off works for domestic interiors, site-specific, often large-scale commissions for public and corporate spaces, and utilitarian fabrics for the home. Working on natural fibres, mostly linen and wool, she combines dyeing, screen-printing and painting.
Inspired by the everyday, her mostly abstract work has been sited in various environments from castle to quayside, hospital to business park. Working from her studio in Glasgow, she meticulously prints everything by hand, developing bespoke colour palettes for each project. Whilst she works confidently to a brief, textiles created for exhibition form the bedrock of her creative development.
Joanna’s work has been exhibited widely, often as a member of the 62 Group of Textile Artists, and featured in numerous books and magazines. She is the author of ‘Dyeing and Screen-Printing on Textiles’, teaches in her studio, and is a visiting lecturer on degree and post-graduate courses.
