Anne Massey is a jeweller working primarily in recycled silver and gold, with some gemstones. Most of her work is made using the technique of anticlastic raising, a highly specialised hammer technique which creates curvaceous, light and strong structures from sheet metal. Anne is committed to exploring this process as deeply as possible. The metal is the star of the show, with stones sometimes adding a colourful accent. Her work is sinuous, organic and highly sculptural, with hammered textures, subtly glittering burnished edges and a soft, non-reflective finish.
Anne is interested both in pieces made from a single piece of metal – sometimes including elements such as the pin of a brooch or a loop for a chain – and in work which utilises a repetition, mirroring or progression of similar elements. Her ambition is to make wearable art which will continue to delight for many years.
