This autumn, Design-Nation took contemporary craft on a nationwide journey – from the historic Victoria Baths in Manchester to the stunning Regency Townhouse in Brighton, and the creative heart of Lincolnshire at The Hub.
Three inspiring exhibitions showcased the breadth, skill and imagination of 66 Design-Nation members:
The Beauty of Becoming | 13 September – 9 November | The Hub, Sleaford
Our autumn season began at The Hub with The Beauty of Becoming – a reflective exploration of transformation, imperfection, and process. Featuring 16 associates and graduates, this exhibition revealed the poetic side of making, where every mark tells a story.
Material Conversations | 16–19 October | GNCCF, Manchester
At the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, Material Conversations brought together artists inspired by nature, memory, and innovation. Held in the iconic Pools of the Victoria Baths, the show celebrated materials and the expressive power of contemporary making. We also partnered with DN Ambassador Barbara Chandler to award a Green Grad with the Design-Nation Award – Congratulations Robert Radcliffe and welcome to Design-Nation!
Materialised | 15–26 October | Regency Town House, Brighton
Members of Design-Nation’s South Cluster Hub transformed the elegant Regency Town House into a world of craftsmanship. Materialised invited visitors to experience ceramics, textiles, jewellery, and design where tradition met bold, contemporary ideas.
Andrew Tanner, Ambassador for Design-Nation said:
“Materialised’ presented an exemplary collection of works by both emerging and established names in the South of England’s craft and design sector. Set within the historic Regency Town House, this showcase highlighted exceptional craftsmanship across various disciplines and provided a unique opportunity to acquire distinctive pieces for home décor, interiors, jewellery, and fashion.”
Thank you to everyone who visited, exhibited, bought craft and supported these remarkable events. We couldn’t have asked for a better season full of creativity, collaboration and community.
