Camberwell School of Art & Crafts ignited my passion for silversmithing and metalwork. I currently produce silver sculptures and precious metal jewellery, combining casting and hand fabrication techniques. Thirty years on I still relish discovering new approaches and am equally at home using state-of-the-art 3D CAD rapid-prototyping.
Most recently I have returned to drawing inspiration from the forms and raw surface textures produced by ancient handcrafting techniques. It is the hands-on making that gives most pleasure; alloying precious metals such as gold from scratch, forming, raising and setting, allowing the metal and the tools direct the flow of my work.
I am now a member of The Argentium Guild and have started developing lines of work using this new form of silver, utilising its special working characteristics.
