Opal Seabrook Glass

storytelling to make people smile

Opal Seabrook is a glass artist who loves storytelling, creating beautiful artworks with an interesting or even a dark back story, and using her quirky characterful pieces to make people smile. Believing art is good for the soul and for mental well-being, Opal’s ambition is to bring art into as many people’s lives as possible. Intrigued with comic art and graphic novels as a child, she moved increasingly into graffiti and embraced storytelling and narrative art.

Through a background in traditional stained glass, and specialised training with other glass artists, Opal developed her new work using meticulous precision hand-cutting techniques, and ensuring every piece of glass is used, with nothing wasted. Working with a small kiln and limited space in her Hertfordshire studio has encouraged Opal to engineer and develop new fusing techniques. Her work is constructed from many individual components, creating intricate 3D, visually impactful kiln-formed glass.

Aspiring to be cutting edge and to make work that is visually very distinctive, Opal has invented and developed many of her own unique techniques. She also delivers courses to glass artists and workshops to the community.
