Katherine makes ceramic sculptures with an emphasis on form. Work is inspired by the natural world, it aims to capture nature’s energy and movement in the material of clay. The clay is pushed to its limits both in terms of its strength and its fragility. Organic shapes are created that are always self supporting and can be displayed from several angles even when created in large scale and yet there is a feeling of fragility about each piece as they taper towards the outside edge. Work is handbuilt using traditional pinching and coiling techniques to create individual, bespoke, contemporary, forms.
Katherine makes ceramic sculpture for individual commissions, galleries, outdoor sculpture parks.
