Christine Johnson Jewellery

the interplay of light, line and shadow

Christine Johnson loves repetition and pattern and the interplay of light, line and shadow, and demonstrates these though her jewellery designs. She is interested in optical illusion and creates visual effects within her work by using the effects of interference patterns to capture and incorporate Moiré fringes. Many of her pieces are kinetic, allowing the wearer to control the effect and to change the appearance of the patterns each time the piece is worn.

Christine completed her MA in Jewellery at UCA, Farnham in September 2016. She was then Artist-in-Residence at UCA until September 2017. She teaches jewellery in Surrey and Hampshire and leads regular workshops at Farnham Maltings. In July 2018, Christine won the Society of Designer Craftsmen Prize for excellence. She was also shortlisted for Enjoia’t in Barcelona, in 2018. Her work has been exhibited in the UK, Europe and the USA.
