Our Home – The Hub: a National Centre for Craft & Design
Design-Nation is based at The Hub: a National Centre for Craft & Design which is the largest venue in England entirely dedicated to the exhibition, celebration and promotion of local, national and international craft and design. This converted Victorian seedhouse in the market town of Sleaford opened in 2003; has five gallery spaces showcasing up to 20 exhibitions each year, craft workshops, a café and craft shop; and is the district’s leading visitor attraction.
In 2018 The Hub merged their activities with the longstanding ArtsNK organisation, and now offers a new multi-arts programme, covering craft, design, art, dance, music and performance at The Hub and across the North Kesteven district. This partnership is committed to celebrating and delivering excellent craft, design, visual and performing arts. In May 2021 the Sleaford venue re-opened after a capital works programme to improve the ground floor cafe and shop, and add new workshop and temporary exhibition space.
Both Design-Nation and The Hub are supported by our core funders Arts Council England and North Kesteven District Council. Until 2023 we are also in receipt of generous grant funding from Arts Council England to expand our programme and future-proof our operation.
Design-Nation’s 2019-2020 graduate mentor programme was supported by The Radcliffe Trust.
