Our Home – the National Centre for Craft & Design
Design-Nation is based at The National Centre for Craft & Design, known as NCCD, which is the largest venue in England entirely dedicated to the exhibition, celebration and promotion of local, national and international craft and design. This converted Victorian seedhouse in the market town of Sleaford opened in 2003; has five gallery spaces showcasing up to 20 exhibitions each year, craft workshops, a café and craft shop; and is the district’s leading visitor attraction.
In 2018 NCCD merged their activities with the longstanding ArtsNK organisation, and now offers a new multi-arts programme, covering craft, design, art, dance, music and performance at NCCD and across the North Kesteven district. This partnership is committed to celebrating and delivering excellent craft, design, visual and performing arts. In 2020 the Sleaford venue is undergoing a capital works programme to improve the ground floor cafe and shop and add new workshop space.
Both Design-Nation and NCCD are supported by our core funders Arts Council England and North Kesteven District Council. Until 2022 we are also in receipt of generous grant funding from Arts Council England to expand our programme and future-proof our operation.
Design-Nation’s 2019-2020 graduate mentor programme is supported by The Radcliffe Trust.
