Design-Nation curates Contemporary Future Heritage at Decorex 2015

Press Release

Thursday 17 September 2015

Design-Nation curates… Contemporary Future Heritage for Decorex 2015.  We present eight outstanding designers creating unique, collectable and covetable items that will enhance interiors today and for future generations.

This year Design-Nation is delighted to accept Decorex’s invitation to make a response to the themes explored by guest curator Corinne Julius. Our stellar portfolio of outstanding designers have created exceptional and unique contemporary designs, exploring 21st century ideas of luxury and destined to become future heritage pieces.

Glass designer Amy Cushing creates richly coloured bespoke glass panels. Her newest range are mirror-backed and box-framed, to illuminate interiors. Amy is inspired by the infinite emotions that colour evokes and the language it communicates; each artwork is developed considering its relationship with the space, displaying continuity or contrast.

Anna Glasbrook is showing her new Lightbox Collection, bringing together vibrant colour and light to create a contemporary mood-enhancing wall features, employing unusual materials.

Textile artist Anna Gravelle launches her distinctive new Drum Stools and accessories, made from unique and luxurious handcrafted textiles for interiors, using tufting and printed pattern.

Ceramicist Heidi Harrington introduces her new Forest Tableware, made in collaboration with Royal Stafford from two of her signature monochromatic handmade prints, Woodcut and Wood Anemone. These are inspiration for new ranges including dinner and side plates, large serve bowls, mugs, cups and saucers, all made in fine British Bone China and Creamware from Stoke on Trent, UK.

As an exquisite contrast Linda Bloomfield, who posts online at LindaThePotter, is showing her handthrown Morandi porcelain bottles, with dimples and visible throwing lines showing the hand of the maker and decorated with custom-made tactile satin matt glazes and colours on the inside.

Michael Ruh will show the striking new Cilindro handblown glass pieces, a new range of large elegant signature pendant lamps with 22k gilded reflectors, finished with his usual exemplary attention to detail.

Edinburgh-based designer Moody Monday introduces graphic new wallpaper and complementary fabric products Aquila, Centaurus, Hydra and Pyxis. Her bespoke design-led wallpaper, fabric & home accessories is created with discerning individuals in mind.

Textile designer Rosemaryrose shows hand decorated upholstered chairs and cushions from her Fragments, Memories and Cluster Collections. Rosemaryrose offers a design service creating bespoke embroidered furnishing fabrics made in Britain.

Our online portfolio was launched over a decade ago by design expert Peta Levi MBE to present the best of British-based contemporary design, with ground-breaking collaborations between designer, manufacturer and retail. Our products encompass textiles, ceramic, glass, metal, furniture, digital and surface design and we are proud of our longstanding relationship with Decorex.
